The Winters Police Department is recruiting for the position of Police Sergeant to join our supervisory team. Winters, CA is a beautiful community of 7,500 residents that is nestled at the gateway to Lake Berryessa. Located in Yolo County, just 30 miles west of Sacramento, and 50 miles east of San Francisco. The Police Department is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional who is service-minded, and possesses the highest levels of integrity; an inspiring team leader, who will teach, coach, and train young police officers. Extensive community engagement experience and a sophisticated understanding of contemporary policing practices will be expected. The selected sergeant must work in coordination with the other sergeants, and will support the Chief of Police to increase employee engagement, assist in maintaining officer and professional staff retention, and enhance department recruitment efforts.
Candidates must have 3 years of experience as a sworn peace officer in the State of California. Possession of a POST Intermediate Certificate is required. Broad extensive experience, training, and education in all phases of municipal police work and police supervision is desired.
The members of the Winters Police Department are dedicated to providing the highest quality police services. The Department is authorized for 11 sworn officers; 1 Chief, 3 Sergeants, and 7 Officers. There are 3 full-time Administrative Support Staff. The Winters Police Department combines proactive law enforcement techniques with a strong commitment to customer service. The City enjoys a low crime rate with approximately 9,600 calls for service annually. The Department provides for safety, security, and traffic management for the City's many special events.
