*The City and the Sausalito Police Association are currently engaging in negotiations which may have an effect on future salaries and benefits. A successor agreement is anticipated to take effect on July 1, 2022.*
Current Salary Range: $6,683 - $8,956 Monthly/ $3,084 - $4,133 Biweekly.
$1,000 annual uniform allowance.
Cafeteria Benefit Plan: The City offers a healthy cafeteria benefits program including choices among plan options for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability.
Retirement: The City is a part of the CalPERS retirement plan and does not contribute to Social Security. Classic employees – 2% @ 50 formula, with a 2% COLA, 3-year final average compensation, and survivor continuance plan. In addition, the employee pays .6% of the employer contribution as a cost share. PEPRA employees – hired after 1/1/13 or Classic employee with a six (6) month break in service are eligible for a 2.7% @57 formula, highest 3-year average compensation.
Leave: Employees earn 120 hours of vacation and 96 hours of sick leave per year.
Educational and specialty assignment incentives, Longevity Incentives and shift differential pay, Tuition reimbursement up to $2000 per fiscal year.
Union Membership: This position is non-exempt and is represented by the Sausalito Police Association.

The Sausalito Police Department strives to provide law enforcement services that focus on “quality of life” issues within our community. It is our department’s priority to be involved in the community, through activities such as community events, involvement in school programs, and neighborhood meetings.
Officers are rotated through long and short-term specialty assignments including investigations, boat patrol, bicycle patrol, motorcycle patrol, field training officer, multi-jurisdictional SRT and CNT teams and perishable skills instructors. Officers are assigned to rotational shifts of 3/12 - 4/12.

Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Presently employed by a California law enforcement agency as a peace officer or a graduate of a California P.O.S.T Police Academy
The ability to convey oneself to and from geographical locations frequently and timely, or possession of a valid CA driver's license.
Possession of a Basic Certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).
Possession and maintenance of firearms qualification.
At least 21 years of age
United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements.
CPR and First Aid Certified
