At a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in criminology, law enforcement/ administration of justice, social or behavioral science, public administration, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in criminology, administration of justice, public administration, organizational behavior, or related field is preferred. Candidates must have seven (7) to nine (9) years of progressively responsible command experience in municipal law enforcement administration, including five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in both supervision and management. Candidates must maintain California P.O.S.T. Advanced, Supervisory, and Management certificates. A valid Class C California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the City is also required.
