Under general direction, the Emergency Management Coordinator develops, coordinates and maintains the Police Department and City emergency management programs, projects and services.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a part-time, non–benefited, position. The incumbent possesses a significant level of specialized technical expertise, abilities, skills and experience; and exercises considerable judgment in developing approaches and techniques. Logical thinking is required both in interpreting established policies and in applying concepts, plans and strategies. Assigned duties involve working closely with other City departments jurisdictions, agencies, utility companies and the general public.

Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration, emergency management, organizational development or related field Experience: Two (2) years of recent, experience in emergency preparedness or response, with specific experience ensuring organizational compliance with Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) requirements for disaster and emergency planning. Certification/License: Valid Class C California driver license, acceptable driving record, and evidence of insurance are required.
